This is a non-governmental organization; it is a non profit making organization. BATRO foundation is born out of necessity. The name if the foundation is the name of an exceptionally skilled personality with an impressive resume. He was born on the 13th of August 1962 in Ilupeju Lagos to his late parents Chief Edward Uanzeki and Mrs Hannah Omage of Uzebba, Lulehai in Owan west local government area of Edo State.
He attended St. Pauls African Church Primary school Ilupeju Lagos and St. Michael Primary School, UZebba. He attended Uzebba grammar school in Edo state. He served in the NSO- Nigerian Security Organization now DSS- Department of Security Services. He held HND for Food Science and Technology from Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti. Did his compulsory NYSC in Akwa Ibom State.
He joined the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and marine research (NIOMR) of the federal ministry of Agriculture and Rural development as a public servant. While in NIOMR, he bagged a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (BSc) and also (LLB) Law. He was called to the Nigerian Bar; He was a Barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He also held Masters Degree in Law (LLM)
He served in various capacities at the various times in NIOMR as Technologist, Planning Officer, Stores Officer and Administrative Officer. Through dint of hard work, God’s grace and self-development, he rose through the ranks to the highest administrative cadre as director of Administration. He was also an Astute Trade Unionist, where he held several elective positions.
He was a strong Christian, a deacon in God’s Way Disciples Mission International (GDMI). He was a marriage counselor, a member of different board of trustees and chairman of several associations.
He was a philanthropist, motivator and generous man. He gave scholarships and put food on the table for several people. He was a wise man, mentor and father to so many.
He was blessed with a wonderful wife, Pastor Praise-El Omoikhekpen Omage, lovely children and grandchildren.
However, he was snatched away untimely by the cold hand of Advanced Prostate Cancer on the 7th of November 2015.
We found that cancer is ferociously ravaging men and women with different pedigree all over the world with families losing 2-3 or more members to cancer.
BATRO foundation will strive to disseminate knowledge about cancer, help cancer patients’ particularly prostate cancer and continue the philanthropic work of Barrister Tokunbo Richard Omage.
To empower youths through educational scholarships, skill acquisition trainings and organizing programs that will help marriages stabilize.
VISION
To aim at prevent cancer, get people cured of cancer, reduce death by cancer, build cancer hospital in Nigeria. Help put food on the table of the less privilege. Give scholarship to children who have lost any of their parents to cancer.
MISSION
To become the TOP supportive cancer organization in Nigeria, Africa and beyond in disseminating knowledge about cancer and health in general from cradle to all segment of the society.
